Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, known simply as Shakira, is a Colombian singer, songwriter, dancer, businesswoman and actress. He was born on February 2, 1977 in Barranquilla, Colombia. He began his artistic career at an early age, and in 1991 he released his first album, “Magia”. Throughout his career he has released several successful albums and has sold over 75 million copies worldwide. He has won several awards, including two  Grammys and nine Latin Grammys. In addition to her musical career, Shakira has been an activist and advocate for social causes, especially education and children’s health.

Family life

Shakira grew up in a close-knit family. His father, William Mebarak Chadid, is Lebanese-Colombian and his mother, Nidia Ripoll Torrado, is Colombian. She has an older brother named Alberto.

In 2000, Shakira began dating Colombian professional soccer player Antonio de la Rua. The couple were together for 11 years before separating in 2011.

In 2011, Shakira began dating Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué. The couple met while filming the music video for the song “Waka Waka  (This Time for Africa)”, the official theme song of the 2010 World Cup. Shakira and Piqué got engaged in 2011 and in 2013 welcomed their first child, Milan Piqué Mebarak. In 2015, they had their second child, Sasha Piqué Mebarak. The two live in Catalonia, Spain.
