“Ramen: The Noodle Soup That Conquers The World”

Ramen is a typical Japanese noodle dish known in its original language as ラーメン, it is based on a broth dish prepared in different ways, chicken, pork, bone or simply vegetables with varied noodles, its flavors that can be very varied, flavors similar to salt, miso pasta and soy flavor sauce, it is usually served with pork chops sliced in layers,  onion and seaweed, sometimes the very famous “naruto” are added, just like the character!, the reason why he likes ramen very much, a common theory is that this fish cake was named after reminiscent of the characteristic swirls of Naruto.

Origin and development of Ramen

The origin of the word “ramen” is a subject of much controversy since its origin is not known, one theory states that its origin comes from the word “拉麵” is the  Japanese way of pronouncing this word of Chinese origin, which has as meaning “stretch noodles”, a second theory is that its origin comes from the Chinese word “老麵”  Whose meaning is “old noodles”, a fourth hypothesis confirms that the word comes from the Chinese word “卤麺”, the  fourth theory is that it comes from “捞” which  its meaning is “dig up” which refers to the method of cooking the noodles by dipping the noodles in boiling water.

In the 1900s restaurants serving traditional Chinese food began offering a new dish called “ramen” which was simple, with very few ingredients and a taste of salt and pork bones. Many Chinese owned street stalls where they sold dumplings and  ramen to passing employees and used a horn called “chamurera” (チャルメラ), and some vendors still use it.

Although after World War II ramen begins to manifest itself in Japan, which began to be elaborated in 1960 in the cities becoming known quickly and in a short time the word ramen became in common use.

In 1980 this dish became considered a normal and exquisite dish for old and young people. In the early 1990s ramen became better known throughout the country, especially in the cities of greater knowledge, which could be its name as a local brand. Ramen became known throughout the country, going from being a simple passing recipe to becoming a special and much-loved meal, even creating some television channels especially aimed at it.

Ramen has been so integrated into the cuisine of Japan that in Taiwan it is considered an originally Japanese dish and necessary in the diet of that country. Consumed in fast food establishments, at home, in stalls since it is one of the cheapest and most important foods in that country, having a great meaning for Japanese and Chinese history, becoming of great importance and meaning.
